Who is responsible
Christopher Kalkowski, based in Colorado, United States, operates chriskalkowski.com. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@swarmcord.com. This notice covers this portfolio and project website. Linked websites and separate project services may have their own privacy notices.
Information used to run the site
WordPress and Namecheap EasyWP, the hosting provider, process technical information to deliver and protect this site. This can include IP addresses, browser information, requested pages and access times. Administrative sign-in cookies support authorized site management. Fonts are hosted on this site. WordPress may use browser session storage and load emoji resources for display compatibility.
Messages and project content
When you contact us through an email address or phone number published on the site, we receive the information you choose to provide and use it to respond and manage the conversation. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information. This site does not currently provide visitor accounts, a public contact form or on-site checkout. Some pages include content from the Doom speedrun leaderboard at play.chriskalkowski.com. Loading that content sends a request to the project service, which can receive connection information such as your IP address and browser details. Following external links takes you to services with their own privacy practices.
Comments
Posts allow public comments. When you submit a comment, WordPress collects your comment, name, email address, any website address you provide, and your IP address and browser user-agent information. These details are used to display and manage discussions, moderate comments and help prevent spam. Published comments can display your chosen name, comment and website link; your email address is not displayed as part of the public comment. If you select the optional checkbox to remember your details, WordPress saves your name, email address and website in browser cookies for future comments. Leaving this unchecked does not prevent submitting a comment. Contact privacy@swarmcord.com about access, correction or deletion of your comment information.
Analytics and browser storage
This site uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand visits and improve the website. Analytics is configured to load only after you choose Accept analytics or enable Analytics in the consent banner. Reject analytics leaves optional analytics off. You can change your choice through Manage consent or withdraw optional consent below; withdrawal applies to future collection and does not undo earlier processing. Where consent is required, your consent is the basis for this optional processing. You can use the site without accepting analytics.
After analytics consent, Google Analytics can receive page views, referrer information, browser and device information, approximate location and cookie-based identifiers. Google processes connection information, including your IP address, to provide the service; GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. We do not send names, email addresses or comment text to Analytics. Enhanced measurement, Google Signals, user-provided data collection, granular location and device data collection, advertising personalization and optional Google account data-sharing settings are disabled.
Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. Google documents a default expiry of up to two years for these cookies, which may be refreshed with use; your browser settings can delete or limit them. This cookie lifetime is separate from the Analytics data-retention setting described below. Necessary Complianz cookies remember your consent choices. See Google’s explanation of Analytics cookies and Google’s privacy policy for more information.
Purposes and providers
Where European data-protection law applies, the purposes and legitimate interests for technical processing are delivering, maintaining and securing the website, and managing comments and preventing spam. Correspondence is used to respond to the sender and manage the conversation; processing needed to address a request about entering into a contract may instead rely on that pre-contractual purpose. Hosting, communications, Google Analytics and project-service providers process information needed for their respective functions. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where the relevant providers operate.
Retention
Retention depends on the information and its purpose, including responding to requests, managing conversations and comments, and related legal, security or dispute needs. Hosting logs and backups are subject to the relevant provider’s retention arrangements. Google Analytics user-level and event-level data retention is set to two months, with the retention reset on new activity disabled. This setting does not limit standard aggregated reports, which can remain available for longer. Contact privacy@swarmcord.com with a question about particular information or to request deletion where applicable.
Privacy requests
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access or receive a copy of personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, or receive portable data. Contact privacy@swarmcord.com to make a request. We may request proportionate information to verify your identity, and legal exceptions may apply. Where applicable, you may complain to your data-protection authority. California privacy rights, where applicable, include rights to know, access, correct and delete information, opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and exercise rights without unlawful discrimination.
